The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon E7-8890 v4 processors running at 2.2GHz, each providing 24 cores for a total of 96 cores. It arrives with 1.5TB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 48 modules and a PERC H330 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50. Quad-port networking combines two 1GbE and two 10Gb SFP+ connections, while iDRAC8 Enterprise enables full remote management. Four 1100W platinum power supplies and rails are included.

Verify rack space, power and storage needs

Confirm your rack can accommodate a 4U chassis and that your facility can deliver sufficient power for four 1100W supplies. The server provides four 2.5-inch drive trays for SATA or SAS drives; additional trays are required to reach the maximum 24-bay capacity. Ensure your network infrastructure supports SFP+ modules for the 10Gb ports and that your operating system and applications are licensed for 96 cores and 1.5TB of memory. The Matrox G200 graphics adapter with 8MB video memory is intended for management consoles only.

Replaces older four-socket platforms when memory

This system supersedes earlier four-socket servers limited to lower core counts, smaller memory ceilings or slower storage controllers.
