The Dell PowerEdge T340 is a new tower server built around an Intel Xeon E-2124 quad-core processor running at 3.3 GHz with a 4.3 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory in four 16 GB modules at 2666 MHz and 8 TB of storage across four 2 TB 7.2K SATA drives managed by an integrated PERC S140 RAID controller. Remote management is provided by iDRAC9 Express and the system includes a DVD-ROM drive, dual-port 1 Gb onboard NICs and Windows Server 2019 Standard pre-installed.

Suited for small business workloads

This configuration suits small businesses needing a quiet tower server for file, print, application or light virtualisation tasks with local RAID redundancy and out-of-band management. The single cabled power supply and non-redundant chassis make it less appropriate for environments that require hot-swap power redundancy, high-density rack mounting or larger drive counts beyond the four 3.5-inch bays provided.

64 GB DDR4 and 8 TB RAID storage headroom

The 64 GB memory capacity comfortably handles multiple virtual machines, databases or terminal sessions while the four-drive RAID array delivers 8 TB of fault-tolerant storage for shared files and backups. Memory expansion is possible through the four DIMM slots already populated, and storage growth is limited to the four 3.5-inch hot-plug bays with the integrated S140 controller supporting SATA RAID levels only.
