Target workload

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a rack-mount server built for virtualisation, database and file-serving roles that demand large memory capacity. A single Intel Xeon E5-2660 v3 processor with ten cores at 2.6 GHz and 192 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory supports multi-tenant workloads in small to mid-size businesses. The chassis accommodates up to sixteen 2.5-inch drives for high-density storage.

Build and connectivity

The 16SFF chassis provides sixteen hot-swap bays behind a lockable bezel, simplifying drive replacement without downtime. A Dell PERC H730 SAS controller manages RAID across SATA drives, while an onboard dual-port 1 GbE 332T adapter handles network traffic. Dual 1100 W power supplies deliver redundancy, and iDRAC8 Express enables remote firmware updates, power cycling and console access over a dedicated management port.

Upgrade path

The system ships with one processor installed and supports a second Xeon E5-2660 v3 to double core count when compute demand grows. Memory can be expanded to 384 GB across the remaining DIMM slots for larger in-memory datasets.
