The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting, and software-defined storage. It ships with dual Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors, each offering 12 cores at 2.3 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo capability. The system supports up to two processors and includes integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet plus iDRAC 9 Express for remote management. It targets organizations needing dense compute in a tower form factor.

Storage Controller and Drives

A Dell PERC H730P 2 GB controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 plus pass-through mode. Four 960 GB SATA 6 Gb/s 2.5-inch SSDs are pre-installed in the 16-bay hot-swap chassis, leaving twelve bays open for SAS or SATA expansion. Two 750 W platinum hot-plug power supplies deliver redundant power. The front bezel and ready rails are not included in this configuration.

Memory Capacity and Limits

The server arrives with 64 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four DIMM slots. Sixteen total slots support a maximum of 1 TB, allowing significant headroom for memory-intensive workloads. The LGA 3647 socket platform caps at two processors, so CPU scaling ends at the installed 24 cores. Buyers who need more than 1 TB of RAM or more than two sockets must choose a different platform.
