Storage interface limits

The B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 but only on SATA drives; SAS and NVME devices are not supported on this controller. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF bays as standard, with optional expansion to 16 or 24 bays or the addition of six NVME drives in bay 2. Installed drives are limited to the two 500 GB SATA units supplied, so any capacity increase requires populating the remaining bays with compatible SATA media.

Setup checks

Verify that your rack can accommodate a 2U unit and that the dual 500 W redundant power supplies match your PDU connectors and voltage. Memory upgrades must use DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 64 GB per DIMM across the 24 slots, with actual speed dependent on the installed processor.
