Server identity

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4GHz. It ships with 96GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and two 146GB 15K SAS drives managed by a Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB FBWC. Dual 500W redundant power supplies keep the platform running in environments that demand continuous uptime.

Installation notes

The chassis offers 24 small-form-factor drive bays and 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, twelve per processor, so adding storage or memory is a matter of sliding in trays or modules without tools. The P440 RAID controller supports levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, but the 4GB flash-backed write cache must be seated firmly or the array will fall back to write-through mode. A second CPU kit is required before the second bank of twelve memory slots becomes active.

Sustained-load behaviour

Under continuous workloads the 15K SAS spindles and FBWC cache absorb write bursts while the eight cores and sixteen threads maintain steady throughput for virtualisation or database tasks. Redundant 500W supplies share the load so a single failure does not throttle performance, and the C610 chipset keeps memory bandwidth consistent across all populated channels. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics core is intended only for remote management consoles, not for compute acceleration.
