This HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server fits 24 small-form-factor drive bays in a 2U rack frame. Two Xeon E5-2620 v3 processors at 2.4 GHz and 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed. A Smart Array P440ar controller with SAS expander manages storage. Dual 800 W hot-plug power supplies and iLO remote management are included.

Virtualisation Hosts Not Archival Nodes

The twin six-core CPUs and large memory pool suit virtualisation clusters, database nodes or compute-heavy workloads that need many cores and fast RAM. Buyers who want more storage bays than 24 or who require newer processor instruction sets should look at a different platform. The chassis does not support GPU accelerators beyond the integrated graphics.

P440ar SAS Controller With Expander

The installed Smart Array P440ar and SAS expander is the single component that decides whether this server matches your backplane. It presents all 24 bays to the operating system and handles RAID levels supported by that controller. If your drives or cabling require a different RAID controller interface, this unit will not work without a hardware change.
