The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 is a 2U rack server equipped with dual Xeon Gold 6148 processors, each offering 20 cores at 2.40 GHz with turbo up to 3.70 GHz. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz memory across 16 modules and 30.72 TB of enterprise SATA SSD storage in eight 3.84 TB drives. The bundle includes a rail kit and Windows Server 2022 Standard licensed for 16 cores, targeting organisations that run heavy virtualisation or large simultaneous application workloads.

Storage Interface and OS Core Limit

The eight 2.5-inch SSDs connect via SATA III at 6 Gb/s, capping individual drive throughput to that bus speed regardless of the drives’ internal capability. The P408i-a controller with 2 GB cache and Smart Storage Battery manages the RAID array, but the supplied Server 2022 Standard licence covers only 16 cores while the hardware presents 40 cores total, leaving the remaining cores unlicensed for this edition. The Broadcom BCM57416 OCP3 adapter provides two 10 Gb BASE-T ports for network connectivity.

Redundant Power and Remote Management

Dual hot-swappable power supplies allow a failed unit to be replaced without taking the server offline, supporting continuous operation for critical applications. Integrated Lights Out 5 gives full remote management access for monitoring, firmware updates and console redirection from any location. Drives and memory modules are supplied separately and require installation before deployment, so factor in rack time for population and initial configuration.
