Practical limits of the ATX standard

ATX power supplies share fixed physical dimensions and connector layouts that determine case compatibility and cable reach. The 80 PLUS Gold rating guarantees at least 80 percent efficiency at typical loads, which reduces waste heat but does not change the maximum power the form factor can safely distribute. Cable lengths and plug counts follow the ATX specification, so very large chassis may require extensions.
