The LincStation N1 is a new rackmount NAS that combines four M.2 2280 NVMe slots with two 2.5-inch SATA bays in a small footprint. It ships with 16GB of onboard memory and a 128GB eMMC boot drive, powered by an Intel Alder Lake quad-core processor reaching 2.9GHz. A pre-installed Unraid OS with a Starter license lets owners mix drive sizes and brands without traditional RAID limits, serving personal cloud backup and media streaming.

Installation notes and common pitfalls

The unit arrives diskless so drives must be sourced separately and seated in the M.2 or SATA bays. Verify the system clock matches your local time zone before activating the 30-day Unraid trial; an incorrect clock can block licence redemption. The included scratch card converts the trial to the formal Starter licence after the trial ends. LED strip colour changes are possible but require following a separate tutorial.

Practical limits of the 2.5GbE link

A single 2.5GbE port caps network throughput at that rate, which can become a bottleneck when multiple 4K streams or large Docker workloads run simultaneously. The Starter licence supports a restricted number of storage devices, so arrays larger than the permitted count need a paid Unraid upgrade. Maximum memory is fixed at 16GB with no expansion headroom.
