ThinkMate server memory kit

This 64 GB kit contains two 32 GB DDR4 3200 registered ECC RDIMMs built for ThinkMate VSX-R5-760S1 and VSX-R5-540RTP workstations. Each module runs at 1.2 V with a CL22 latency and a 2Rx8 organisation. The registered buffer and error-correcting code suit multi-socket server boards that require registered memory.

Capacity and headroom

Sixty-four gigabytes across two slots leaves remaining DIMM sockets free for future expansion on supported platforms. The 3200 MT/s rate matches the PC4-25600 specification and handles typical virtualisation, database and compute workloads. Workloads that exceed 64 GB or demand higher bandwidth per channel will require additional modules or a platform with faster memory support.

Upgrade path

The kit replaces lower-capacity or non-ECC DDR4 RDIMMs in the named ThinkMate systems. Moving from unbuffered or single-rank modules to this 2Rx8 registered configuration adds error correction and signal integrity for sustained loads. The jump is worthwhile when the workload needs ECC protection, registered signalling or more than 32 GB per channel.
