Server ECC Upgrade Kit

This 16 GB kit supplies two 8 GB DDR3L 1600 CL11 registered DIMMs built for HP ProLiant SL2500, SL250s Gen8, SL270s Gen8, SL4545 G7 and WS460c Gen8 servers. It targets administrators who need error-correcting memory to protect data integrity in always-on workloads. The modules run at 1.35 V and carry a 1Rx4 organisation. They are not compatible with standard desktop boards or unbuffered memory slots.

Build Integration Requirements

Each stick uses the 240-pin DDR3L form factor and requires a motherboard that supports registered ECC operation. The kit replaces HP part numbers 731765B21, 731765B211 and 735302001, so it fits directly into qualified ProLiant slots without adapter brackets. Mixing these registered modules with unbuffered DIMMs will prevent boot, so the full channel population must match. No heat spreader is fitted, leaving maximum clearance for dense server chassis airflow.

Sustained Load Behaviour

ECC circuitry detects and corrects single-bit errors on the fly, preventing silent data corruption during long compute runs or virtualisation hosting. Registered buffering reduces electrical load on the memory controller, helping signal stability when all channels are populated at 1600 MHz. The 1.35 V DDR3L voltage lowers power draw compared to standard DDR3, which contributes to cooler operation inside packed 1U or blade enclosures over extended periods.
