This OWC kit provides 256GB of DDR4 2933 registered ECC memory across eight 32GB modules. It is built for the Dell PowerEdge C4140 with CascadeLake CPUs and will not work in standard desktop computers. The registered design and ECC function target data-integrity workloads in servers, workstations and NAS systems. Mixing with unbuffered or load-reduced DIMMs is not supported.

256GB capacity with JEDEC headroom

Eight 32GB ranks deliver 256GB total at PC4-23400 CL21, running at 1.2V. The modules are backward compatible with 2133, 2400 and 2666MHz bus speeds, so they will clock down automatically if the platform requires a lower frequency. Capacity runs out when the application footprint exceeds the installed 256GB or when the memory controller's maximum supported density is reached.

288-pin registered DIMM form factor

Each stick uses the 288-pin DDR4 RDIMM layout and requires a motherboard that accepts registered ECC modules. No heat spreader is fitted, so airflow in the server chassis must be sufficient for bare DRAM. The kit replaces Dell part numbers including 8WKDY and SNP8WKDYC/32G, freeing procurement from sourcing individual OEM modules.
