Capacity and interface

The Oyen Digital U34 Bolt is an 8 TB portable solid-state drive that connects through a USB-C port running the USB4 40 Gbps specification. It uses an NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 controller to reach sustained sequential transfers up to 2800 MB/s. The drive is formatted HFS+ for macOS out of the box and can be reformatted for other operating systems. It is built for professionals who move large media libraries between workstations.

Ruggedisation and thermal design

A MIL-Standard 810F rating certifies resistance to shock, vibration and dust for field use. An internal aluminum core acts as a heatsink to keep the controller within its 32 °F to 158 °F operating range during sustained writes. The ASMedia ASM2464PD bridge chip manages the USB4 link and maintains backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 and earlier USB hosts. Endurance is rated at 6000 TBW for the 8 TB model.

Creative workflows and compatibility limits

Video editors, photographers and audio engineers who need fast, durable external storage for on-location offloads will benefit from the throughput and rugged chassis. Users whose computers lack USB-C or Thunderbolt ports cannot reach the advertised speeds and should consider drives with legacy USB-A cables. The physical size of 4.5 by 2.7 by 0.75 inches may not fit tightly constrained equipment bags.
