Dual-socket LGA 4189 server board

The Supermicro MBD-X12DAI-N6-O is an Extended ATX motherboard built for dual 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors up to 270 W TDP. Sixteen 288-pin DDR4 3200 slots support up to 6 TB of ECC memory including 3DS RDIMM, LRDIMM and Optane persistent modules. Two Gigabit Intel I210 LAN ports and an Aspeed AST2600 video chipset handle out-of-band management.

Build integration

The board measures 12 by 13 inches and needs an Extended ATX chassis with matching standoffs and a power supply that delivers dual CPU 8-pin connectors. Five PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and one x8 slot provide room for multiple GPUs, accelerators or networking cards. Ten SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and two M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots (2280/22110 M-Key) cover high-density storage without extra HBAs.

Bundled I/O impact

Rear-panel USB includes four USB 3.2 Gen 1 and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports for fast peripheral attach. Two additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers sit onboard for front-panel or internal devices. Dual 1 GbE links give basic redundancy for management traffic. The Aspeed AST2600 provides KVM-over-IP and virtual media without a discrete graphics card.
