Quad-socket compute density

The Supermicro SYS-8048B-TRFT is a 4U rack server built around four Intel Xeon E7-4820 v2 processors, each running at 2.0 GHz with eight cores. It ships with 2 TB of DDR3 1600 MHz registered ECC memory populated across 64 DIMM slots. The platform targets organisations that need high thread counts and large memory capacity in a single chassis for database, virtualisation or analytics workloads.

Sustained thermal headroom

Four 1620 W platinum power supplies share the load, giving redundant hot-swap power for continuous operation. The LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i controller manages up to 24 hot-plug 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives with RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, while the 11 PCIe 3.0 slots provide room for additional I/O cards without choking airflow under prolonged load.

Rack integration notes

Front bezel and rack-mount rails are not included, so buyers must supply their own mounting hardware. The dedicated IPMI 2.0 port enables KVM-over-LAN and virtual media for remote setup, but the Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory limits local console resolution. Ensure the rack can accommodate a 4U form factor and provide sufficient front-to-rear airflow for the four power supplies.
