Purpose and audience

The U-Boat Chimera 9589 is a limited-edition Swiss automatic chronograph built for collectors who value distinctive left-hand crown architecture. Only 300 pieces exist, each individually numbered on a fixed case plate. The 46 mm stainless steel case integrates a tungsten bezel secured by five specialised screws. A black leather strap with a signed buckle completes the sports-luxury aesthetic.

Crown system and water resistance

The patented crown protection cap sits on the left side and requires a dedicated pusher to release before the crown can be extracted. This mechanism prevents accidental adjustment during active wear. Water resistance is rated to 100 m, suitable for swimming and surface water sports but not for diving. The smoked mineral glass side window and exhibition case back are sealed within the same screw-down construction.

Dial layout and legibility

The two-level dial combines a blue painted striped upper surface with a smoked sapphire lower layer under scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Four sub-dials display 60-second, 30-minute, 12-hour and 24-hour counters alongside a discreet date aperture at 9 o'clock. Arabic numerals appear only at 4, 8 and 12 o'clock, while laser-cut indices and perforated silver-tone hands complete the readout. This asymmetric arrangement suits wearers who prefer a non-standard chronograph layout.
