The Purple firmware prioritises sequential video writes over random access, reducing pauses during multi-camera recording. Rotational vibration sensors compensate for the mechanical interference common in multi-bay NVR chassis. These firmware and mechanical adjustments let the drive operate reliably in the always-on environment where a standard desktop drive would wear out quickly. No extra software or drivers are required beyond the host system SATA support.

At 8 TB the drive stores weeks of footage from several 1080p or 4K cameras before overwriting begins. The 7200 RPM speed and 256 MB buffer absorb burst traffic when multiple motion events trigger simultaneously.
