The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is an 8-core, 16-thread desktop CPU built on the Zen 4 architecture using TSMC 5nm FinFET process technology. It operates at a 4.2 GHz base frequency and can boost up to 5.0 GHz. The processor includes 96MB of L3 cache and 8MB of L2 cache. It is designed for the Socket AM5 platform and has a 120W thermal design power.

Upgrade from earlier AM4 or entry-level AM5 chips

Moving to this processor from an older Socket AM4 system or a lower-tier AM5 model brings the larger 96MB L3 cache and higher boost clocks that benefit latency-sensitive workloads. The jump is most noticeable when the larger cache can be fully utilised, such as in modern gaming titles or compilation tasks. The 120W TDP requires adequate cooling, which is not included in the box.

This CPU fits Socket AM5 motherboards based on the X870E, X870, X670E, X670, B850, B650E, B650 or A620 chipsets. It supports dual-channel DDR5 5200 memory and includes ECC memory support. Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics run at a 400 MHz base frequency with a 2200 MHz max dynamic frequency, providing display output without a discrete GPU. PCI Express 5.0, 4.0 and 3.0 lanes are available for expansion cards and storage.
