SmartConnect UPS for distributed IT

The APC SMC1500-2UC is a 1440 VA, 900 W pure sine-wave battery backup designed for active-PFC servers and sensitive electronics in distributed environments. Its cloud-enabled SmartConnect portal lets administrators monitor status, receive alerts and apply firmware updates from any internet-connected device. The 2U rack-mount form factor fits standard server racks and supplies six NEMA 5-15R outlets for critical loads.

Rack-mount build with replaceable battery

The unit measures 3.50 inches high by 18.90 inches wide by 18.00 inches deep and mounts in a 2U space using a NEMA 5-15P input plug. An etched-glass LCD with LED indicators shows real-time status including on-battery and low-battery alarms. The user-replaceable APCRBC132 cartridge extends service life without removing the UPS from the rack. Automatic voltage regulation corrects brownouts and overvoltages to preserve battery health.

USB and serial management interfaces

Management connectivity is provided through USB and serial ports for local monitoring or integration with network management cards. The UPS delivers 120 V output at 47 to 63 Hz with a 455-joule surge energy rating and carries UL 1778, CSA, FCC Part 15 Class A, BSMI and NOM approvals. Runtime is 18 minutes at half load and 6 minutes at full load, limiting extended outage coverage for larger server groups.
