Socket and chipset
The ASRock B560M STEEL LEGEND is a Micro ATX motherboard built around the Intel B560 chipset for LGA 1200 processors. It supports both 10th and 11th Gen Intel Core CPUs and includes Turbo Boost Technology 3.0 support for automatic frequency scaling. Dual channel DDR4 memory runs up to 4800+(OC) with 11th Gen chips or 4666+(OC) with 10th Gen chips across four 288 pin slots for a maximum of 128GB.
Compatibility checklist
Verify that your processor is a 10th or 11th Gen Intel Core model in the LGA 1200 package before ordering. Confirm your DDR4 modules are non-ECC un-buffered DIMMs to match the board's memory controller requirements. Check whether your chosen M.2 device uses the PCIe or SATA protocol, because a SATA-type M.2 drive installed in the second M.2 socket will disable one of the six SATA3 6.0Gb/s ports.
Bundled connectivity and expansion
The board provides one PCI Express 4.0 x16 slot with 15µ gold contacts and two PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots for add-in cards. A Hyper M.2 socket accepts M Key 2242, 2260 or 2280 PCIe modules at up to Gen4 x4 64 Gb/s with 11th Gen CPUs or Gen3 x4 32 Gb/s with 10th Gen CPUs. A second M.2 Key E socket supports 2230 WiFi/BT modules with Intel CNVi. Onboard 2.5Gbps LAN uses the Dragon RTL8125BG controller and 7.1 channel audio is handled by the Realtek ALC897 codec.
