Memory and storage configuration

Four Ultra M.2 sockets support modules from 2230 to 2280 length, with the top two slots wired for PCI Express 3.0 x4 speeds up to 32 Gb/s. Eight SATA3 ports add RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 options, though populating M.2 slots can disable adjacent SATA connectors.

PCI Express lane allocation

The CPU lane count determines how the three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots divide bandwidth: 44 lane processors run x16/x16/x4, 28 lane processors run x16/x8/x4, and 16 lane processors reduce the arrangement further. Using the PCI Express x1 slot disables the M.2 Key E socket for Wi-Fi modules.
