Ready for 12th and 13th Gen Intel CPUs
The ASUS PRIME H770-PLUS D4 uses the Intel H770 chipset and an LGA 1700 socket to support 12th and 13th Gen processors. Four DDR4 slots accept up to 128 GB of dual-channel memory at speeds from 2133 to 5066 MT/s when overclocked. A PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots running at x4 and three M.2 sockets provide expansion for graphics and storage.
Thermals noise and power in daily use
VRM, M.2 and PCH heatsinks work with hybrid fan headers controlled by Fan Xpert 2+ to keep component temperatures low during typical workloads. The 2.5 Gb Ethernet controller and Realtek 7.1 audio codec add minimal heat, while the board draws only the power required by the installed CPU and peripherals.
Behaviour under sustained load
Under prolonged heavy compute the VRM heatsink continues to dissipate heat effectively, allowing the CPU to maintain boost clocks within its power limits. M.2 heatsinks prevent thermal throttling on drives during long transfers, and Fan Xpert 2+ ramps fan speeds gradually to balance airflow against acoustic output.

Questions sur cet article
How do I install the CPU in the LGA 1700 socket without bending pins?
Lift the retention lever, align the processor triangle with the socket mark, lower the CPU straight down without pressure, close the lever and secure the load plate — the lever clicks when the load plate is fully latched.
Which parts of the PRIME H770-PLUS D4 will need replacement first under normal use?
The CMOS battery on the board typically lasts 3–5 years; chassis fans connected to the hybrid headers may need replacement after several years of continuous operation.
What thermal limit appears first when the VRM heatsink is stressed by a high-wattage CPU?
The VRM heatsink and Fan Xpert 2+ controlled headers manage heat; sustained heavy loads will hit VRM thermal throttling before the PCH or M.2 heatsinks reach their limits.
