This bundle pairs the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero motherboard with a Ryzen 9 9950X processor. The CPU delivers 16 cores and 32 threads based on the Zen 5 architecture with a 5.7 GHz maximum boost clock. The board provides an AM5 socket, 18 plus 2 plus 2 power stages rated at 110 amps each, and dual-channel DDR5 support up to 256 gigabytes. It targets users building advanced AI PCs who need strong compute density and extensive I/O.

Upgrade path from older AM5 CPUs

The motherboard supports Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series processors, so the jump is worth it when moving from a 7000 or 8000 series chip to the 9950X for the higher core count, larger 64 megabyte L3 cache and faster memory controller. The 18 plus 2 plus 2 power stage design with ProCool II connectors and MicroFine alloy chokes handles the increased current demand. AI Overclocking, AI Cooling II and PBO Enhancement simplify tuning for the new silicon.

PCIe 5.0 and USB4 connectivity limits

The platform provides two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots that operate at x16 or x8/x8 when both are populated, and three M.2 slots wired for PCIe 5.0 x4 plus two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.
