2.5" SATA USB 3.0 Enclosure
The BONAEVER enclosure accepts any 2.5-inch SATA I, II or III hard drive or SSD with a thickness of 7 mm or 9.5 mm and a capacity up to 6 TB. It connects through a USB 3.0 port and is backward compatible with USB 2.0. The tool-free design allows hot-swap installation without opening a case or using a screwdriver.
USB 3.0 bandwidth and UASP performance
The enclosure uses a standard USB 3.0 interface, so maximum throughput is limited by the host controller and cable quality. When the host supports UASP the enclosure can reach speeds up to 70% faster than a typical USB 3.0 bulk-endpoint connection. Without UASP the drive operates at regular USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 speeds depending on the port.
Compatibility checks before ordering
Verify that the drive you intend to use is a 2.5-inch SATA model with a 7 mm or 9.5 mm z-height; thicker drives will not fit. Confirm the host system provides a USB-A port and that the operating system is Windows XP or later, macOS or Linux. The enclosure draws power from the USB port alone, so no external adapter is required.

Questions sur cet article
Should I choose the 7mm or 9.5mm drive height for this enclosure?
The enclosure accepts both 7mm and 9.5mm thick 2.5 inch SATA drives, so you can use either height without an adapter.
What does the 70% faster figure mean for real-world file transfers?
When connected to a UASP-enabled host controller, the enclosure delivers up to 70% higher throughput than a standard USB 3.0 link, cutting large-file copy times noticeably.
Which SATA standard does the USB 3.0 interface cap at in practice?
The USB 3.0 bridge supports SATA I, II and III drives, but the 5 Gbps USB link limits sustained speeds to the USB 3.0 maximum rather than the drive's native SATA 6 Gbps ceiling.
