Dual ten-core Xeon compute density
The Dell PowerEdge R630 packs two Xeon E5-2687W v3 processors running at 3.1 GHz, each with ten cores and 25 MB cache. With 384 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed and support for up to 1.5 TB, the 1U chassis targets virtualisation clusters, database nodes and high-performance workloads that demand strong single-thread speed and large memory capacity. No drives are included, so storage can be tailored to the application.
Redundant 495 W supplies and iDRAC8 Enterprise
Dual 495 W power supplies provide N+1 redundancy while the integrated Dell Remote Access Controller with Enterprise licence enables out-of-band management, virtual console and lifecycle automation. The PERC H730 SAS controller manages up to ten 2.5-inch SATA or SAS drives in the front bays. Network connectivity includes two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports via Intel I350 and X540 controllers.
Ten-bay 2.5-inch chassis with rail-ready mounting
The 10 SFF drive cage fills the front panel, leaving no room for 3.5-inch media but maximising SSD density for latency-sensitive workloads. Rails are available on request for standard four-post rack installation. BIOS and firmware are updated to the latest stable release before shipment, and each unit undergoes full diagnostics and burn-in testing.

Questions sur cet article
How do I install the 2.5" drives into the 10 SFF bays and what step is often missed?
Slide each drive into a bay until the latch clicks, then verify the PERC H730 RAID controller detects every drive in the BIOS before loading the OS.
Which components will need replacement first during long-term operation?
The two 495 W power supplies and the system fans are the primary field-replaceable units; DDR4 ECC DIMMs rarely fail but can be swapped if errors appear.
What thermal or power limit appears first when both Xeon E5-2687W v3 CPUs run at 3.1 GHz continuously?
The 495 W redundant power supplies set the ceiling; sustained full-load CPU draw can approach their rated output, triggering throttling before the 1.5 TB memory limit is reached.
