The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server fitted with two Xeon Gold 6330 processors, each running at 2.0 GHz with 28 cores and a 3.1 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules. The PERC H755 RAID controller provides 8 GB of non-volatile cache with battery backup and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 network card and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management complete the core platform.

Installation prerequisites

Verify that your rack provides a 1U slot with standard square-hole rails, as the included Ready Rails are designed for that mounting style. Confirm that the facility can supply two independent 1400 W platinum-efficiency power circuits with hot-swap redundancy. Ensure the storage controller’s SATA and SAS drive interfaces match the media you intend to populate in the ten 2.5 inch trays, and note that the OCP 3.0 network mezzanine occupies a dedicated slot on the motherboard.

Sustained-load behaviour

Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies maintain redundant delivery during continuous operation, sharing load evenly across both units. The PERC H755’s 8 GB NV cache with battery protects in-flight writes during extended write-heavy workloads such as database logging or virtual machine clustering. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables persistent remote monitoring of thermal sensors, fan curves and power draw without host OS dependence, allowing administrators to react to trends before throttling occurs.
