Purpose-built 1U rack server for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server configured with dual Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.4 GHz with a 3.4 GHz turbo frequency and provides 16 cores, giving 32 cores total. The system ships with 1 TB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across 32 DIMM slots and a maximum capacity of 2 TB. It targets virtualization, database management and high-performance computing clusters.

Verify rack depth and power infrastructure

Confirm the rack can accommodate 1U height and the included sliding rails. Ensure the facility provides redundant power circuits for the two 1400 W platinum power supplies. Check that the OCP 3.0 slot used by the Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1 GbE network card matches the rack’s network topology. The PERC H755 controller with 8 GB NV cache occupies a PCIe Gen4 slot; validate available expansion slots for additional cards.

Ten-bay 2.5" storage front end

The chassis presents ten 2.5-inch drive bays populated with 1.92 TB SATA SSDs connected to the H755 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides out-of-band remote management for deployment, monitoring and firmware updates. The front bezel is included. This configuration leaves no empty drive bays; storage expansion requires external enclosures or a different chassis.
