The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rackmount server built for dense compute workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4310 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 12 cores. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across four DIMM slots. An H745 RAID controller with 4 GB NV cache manages eight 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives in the front 2.5-inch bays. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise provide redundancy and remote management.

Suited for Virtualization

This configuration targets environments that need high core counts and redundant storage in a single rack unit. The quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 card handles baseline network connectivity. Buyers who need higher-speed networking, NVMe storage tiers, or GPU acceleration should look at alternative configurations. The 1U chassis limits expansion to the integrated OCP slot and the front drive bays. Maximum memory capacity reaches 1 TB across 16 DDR4 slots when fully populated.

Eight-Bay 2.5-Inch SAS Front Storage with H745 RAID

The eight 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives connect through the PERC H745 controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Drive bays are hot-swappable and accessible from the front of the 1U chassis. The controller includes a 4 GB non-volatile cache with battery backup to protect write data during power loss. No NVMe or SATA drives are included in this specific build.
