The Dell PowerEdge R730xd fits twelve 3.5-inch drives in a 2U rack chassis. One Xeon E5-2683 v4 processor runs at 2.1 GHz with sixteen cores and 40 MB cache. 192 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed. A PERC H730 SAS controller manages storage. Dual 1100 W power supplies and iDRAC8 Enterprise remote management are included.

Storage-Heavy Workloads, Not GPU Compute

This server suits users who need dense local storage with hardware RAID and out-of-band management. It does not suit buyers who need GPU acceleration, more than two processors, or memory beyond 768 GB. The integrated graphics provide only basic display output.
