Dense 24-bay server for storage-heavy workloads

The Dell PowerEdge R730xd fits up to 24 two-and-a-half-inch drives in a 2U rack chassis. Two Xeon E5-2603 v3 processors run at 1.6 GHz with six cores each and 15 MB cache. 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed, expandable to 768 GB. A PERC H730 SAS RAID controller manages the drive array.

Steady throughput from dual CPUs and large memory

Under sustained load both Xeon CPUs maintain their 1.6 GHz base frequency across all six cores. The 256 GB DDR4 buffer absorbs large working sets without swapping. Dual 1100 W power supplies share the load so neither unit runs near its limit during extended operations.

Slide-in rails and toolless drive carriers

The chassis accepts standard rack rails that lock without tools. Drive carriers snap into the 24 front bays with a single lever action. iDRAC8 Enterprise provides remote console and power control before the operating system loads. Buyers who need drives or a rail kit must add them separately.
