This new Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Silver 4210R processors. Each CPU delivers 10 cores at 2.4GHz with 13.75M cache. The system includes 256GB of DDR4 memory arranged as 16 modules of 16GB PC4-2666. It targets organisations that need dense compute and memory in a standard rack footprint.

The configuration fits virtualisation clusters, database servers and middleware tiers that benefit from high core counts and large memory capacity. Four 1.2TB 10K SAS drives on an H730P RAID controller provide low-latency local storage.
