The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack-mount server system equipped with dual Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors running at 2.30 GHz, each providing 12 cores for a total of 24 cores. It ships with 768 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 24 slots and includes a PERC H730P storage controller with 2 GB cache. Eight 1.2 TB 10K SAS drives are pre-installed in the 2.5-inch bays, and dual 750 W redundant power supplies are fitted.

Suited for virtualization and database workloads

This configuration targets organisations that need high core density and large memory capacity in a compact 2U chassis for virtualization clusters, database servers or compute-intensive applications. The quad-port network daughter card supplies two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections, while iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full remote management.
