The Dell PowerEdge R740 arrives with a single Intel Gold 6132 processor running at 2.6GHz with 14 cores and 19.25M cache, plus 32GB of DDR4 memory in two 16GB modules. Two 960GB SAS SSDs and the H730P RAID controller are already installed. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides full remote management out of the box.

Bundled controller and drives deliver protected

The H730P RAID controller manages the paired 960GB SAS SSDs in hardware RAID, removing the need for a separate add-in card and freeing PCIe slots. iDRAC9 Enterprise is licensed and active, so remote console, virtual media and lifecycle automation work without extra keys. Rails, bezel and power cords are included for immediate rack mounting.

Eight 2.5-inch bays and Gen 3 PCIe set expansion

The chassis supports up to eight 2.5-inch drives, leaving six bays open after the factory SSDs. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots are available for additional network, storage or accelerator cards. Network connectivity is fixed to the onboard Intel X550 with two 10Gb RJ45 and two 1Gb RJ45 ports; no optical drive bay is present.
