The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 packs twenty-six 3.5-inch drive bays into a 2U rack footprint. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6254 processors provide thirty-six cores at 3.1 GHz with 4.0 GHz turbo for compute-heavy workloads. One hundred twenty-eight gigabytes of DDR4-2933 ECC memory supports reliable operation. The platform targets software-defined storage, backup repositories and media archives.

Twenty-six 8 TB drives with H330 controller

Twenty-six enterprise 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives deliver two hundred eight terabytes of raw capacity. The Dell PERC H330 controller manages the array at 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA speeds. Sixteen memory slots allow expansion to 1 TB when workloads grow. The dual 10/25 Gb SFP28 mezzanine card adds high-throughput network connectivity for data-intensive tasks.

Redundant platinum power and remote management

Two 1100 W platinum-efficiency hot-swap supplies keep the system running during a power-module failure. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides full out-of-band monitoring and control. The integrated dual-port 1 GbE LOM handles basic management traffic. Front bezel and ready rails are not included, so plan for separate rack-mount hardware.
