The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors, each offering 16 cores at a base frequency of 2.4 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.4 GHz. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across 16 modules and supports a maximum memory capacity of 2 TB. The system includes a Dell PERC H755 RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache and battery backup, managing twelve 4 TB 7.2K SATA 3.5-inch hard drives in a 12-bay chassis.

SATA 6 Gb/s interface limits peak drive throughput

The twelve installed hard drives use a SATA 6 Gb/s interface, which caps sequential transfer rates at the interface maximum rather than the drive media speed. The PERC H755 controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, allowing a choice between capacity, redundancy and performance, but all arrays remain bound by the SATA link bandwidth. Network connectivity is provided by a Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 card, limiting each port to gigabit speeds.

Hot-swap bays and redundant power simplify

The 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis supports hot-swap drive replacement, so failed disks can be exchanged without powering down the server. Two 1400 W platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in a redundant hot-swap configuration, maintaining uptime if one unit fails. The package includes ready rails and a front bezel for standard rack mounting, and iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides comprehensive remote management for monitoring and firmware updates.
