Capacity and configuration

This 5U rack server ships with dual Xeon Silver 4214 processors running at 2.2 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo across twelve cores each. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory in four 16 GB modules and a PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays and dual 750 W redundant power supplies complete the chassis.

Virtualisation and storage workloads

The dual twelve-core CPUs and sixteen drive bays suit virtualisation hosts, database servers and software-defined storage clusters that need internal capacity and hardware RAID. Organisations requiring GPU acceleration, more than two sockets or a smaller form factor will not be served by this platform. Buyers without rack infrastructure should note the front bezel and rails are not included.

Sixteen 2.5-inch drive bays

The single specification that decides fit is the sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays backed by the H730P controller. If the deployment needs that many internal drives with SAS or SATA RAID, this server matches; if fewer bays or a different controller are required, another model is appropriate.
