The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics with 4GB GDDR5 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, 16GB DDR4 RAM and dual storage comprising a 1TB M.2 drive plus a 4TB SSD. The UHD touch display resolves 3840 x 2160 on an IPS panel with 72% colour gamut coverage.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 limits

External display bandwidth is capped by the single Thunderbolt 3 port running at x4 PCIe and the HDMI 2.0 output. The Thunderbolt connection also carries USB 3.1 Gen 1 signalling, so total peripheral throughput shares that pipe. No additional video outputs are present, so multi-monitor setups beyond two external screens require a dock or daisy-chained Thunderbolt devices.

Upgrading from integrated-graphics laptops
