The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 arrives as a 1U rackmount system with dual Intel Gold 6126 processors, 128GB DDR4 memory and six 1.92TB SAS SSDs pre-configured on an H730P RAID controller. It includes iDRAC9 Enterprise, redundant 1100W power supplies, rails and power cords so it can be racked and commissioned immediately.

Twelve cores per socket at 2.6 GHz

Each Gold 6126 provides twelve cores running at 2.6 GHz with 19.25M cache, giving twenty-four threads total for multi-threaded workloads such as virtualisation, database or container platforms. The installed 128GB DDR4 is populated as eight 16GB modules at 2666 MT/s, leaving additional DIMM slots open for future expansion.

Tool-less rails and hot-plug drive bays

The 2.5-inch chassis supports up to eight drives with hot-plug carriers, and the H730P controller manages RAID without requiring a separate battery module. PCIe Gen 3 slots are accessible after removing the top cover, while iDRAC9 Enterprise allows remote BIOS updates and power cycling. Buyers who need more than eight drive bays or a different network adapter will need a different chassis.
