SAS 6 Gb/s interface ceiling

The 6 Gb/s SAS link caps sustained throughput well below the rated bus speed, so sequential transfers rarely saturate the channel. Random I/O performance is limited by the 7200 RPM rotational latency and mechanical seek time.

Caddy-assisted installation

The included tray aligns with PowerEdge R310, R320, R410, R415, R420, R510, R515, R520, R610, R620, R710, R720, R720xd, T310, T320, T410, T420, T610, T620 and T710 drive bays. Installation fails when the backplane lacks SAS support or the controller firmware rejects non-Dell firmware drives.
