Built for virtualisation and database workloads

The Dell VXRail E560 10B rack server ships with two Xeon Gold 5122 processors running at 3.60GHz, giving 16 threads for parallel tasks. A 128GB DDR4 ECC Registered memory complement supports multiple virtual machines and data-heavy applications. Eight 1.2TB 10K SAS drives provide fast, redundant storage for operating systems, databases and backups. The PERC H740P controller manages RAID without extra configuration steps.

Sustained throughput with dual 10GbE

Under continuous load the X540 dual 10GbE ports keep storage and migration traffic moving, while the I350 dual 1GbE pair handles management and backup streams. The 10K SAS spindles deliver consistent IOPS for transactional databases and hybrid storage tiers. Hot-swap bays let a failed drive be replaced without powering down, so uptime stays high during long-running jobs.

Rack mounting and drive population

The 1U chassis fits standard racks and uses ten 2.5-inch bays, eight of which are populated at shipment. Installers slide the server into rails, connect the two power cords and attach network cables to the labelled ports. The only common issue is forgetting to initialise the virtual disks in the H740P BIOS before the OS install, which adds an extra reboot.
