Dual-Socket EPYC Server Board

The GIGABYTE MZ72-HB0 is a dual-socket server motherboard built for AMD EPYC 7002 and 7003 series processors. It fits 2U and larger rack chassis that need high core counts and large memory capacity. The board targets compute clusters, virtualisation hosts and storage nodes that run multi-threaded workloads across two CPUs. It is not aimed at single-socket workstations or builds that need consumer chipset features.

Bundled Cables and Management I/O

Two SATA 6.0 Gb/s cables are included so the four onboard SATA ports can be used immediately for boot or bulk drives. The rear I/O adds a dedicated 10/100/1000 management LAN port alongside two 10 GbE BASE-T ports driven by a Broadcom BCM57416 controller. A COM serial header and D-Sub video output from the Aspeed AST2500 BMC provide out-of-band console access without extra adapters.

Sixteen DDR4 Slots and PCIe 4.0 Lanes

Sixteen 288-pin DDR4 slots run at 3200 MT/s, delivering eight channels per processor for bandwidth-heavy applications. Five PCIe 4.0 x16 physical slots operate at x16 or x8 electrical depending on CPU allocation, giving room for multiple GPUs, NICs or storage HBAs. One M.2 M-key slot supports 2280 and 22110 cards at PCIe 4.0 x4. Builds that require more than four SATA ports or additional NVMe drives must use the SlimSAS connectors not cabled in the box.
