Built for dense compute

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4GHz. It ships with 96GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 24 DIMM slots, reaching the maximum capacity supported by this single-CPU configuration. The Smart HBA H240ar controller provides 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA connectivity with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support. Graphics output is handled by an integrated Matrox G200eH2 chip with 16MB video memory.

Fits standard racks and expands storage

The chassis occupies 2U of rack space and includes eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays with trays and screws supplied; drives themselves are not included. The H240ar controller manages the internal backplane and frees PCIe slots for additional networking or acceleration cards. A second processor can be added later to unlock the remaining 12 DIMM slots and raise the memory ceiling to 3TB. Optional universal media bay, NVMe drive cage or extra SFF cages can be fitted into bays 2 and 3 for further storage density.

Redundant power and efficient cooling

Dual hot-swap 500W power supplies deliver N+1 redundancy, allowing one unit to fail without downtime. The 2U form factor uses high-airflow fans that scale speed with inlet temperature, keeping the Xeon and memory within thermal limits under typical enterprise workloads. Acoustic output is rated for data-centre environments rather than office desks. Power draw will vary with drive count, add-in cards and CPU utilisation, but the redundant design ensures continuous operation during a supply failure.
