The HPE BL460c G10 blade server fits into a c-Class enclosure and delivers two Xeon Gold 5218 processors at 2.3 GHz with sixteen cores each. Forty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory support virtualisation clusters, database nodes or high-performance computing workloads. Two 900 GB SAS 2.5-inch 10K drives connect through a Smart Array P204i-b SR Gen10 controller for local storage. Integrated Lights-Out Advanced enables remote firmware updates and power management across the rack.

Upgrade Path from Single-Socket Blades

This dual-socket blade replaces a single-processor Gen9 or earlier blade when thread count or memory capacity becomes the bottleneck. The jump is worth it when workloads scale beyond twelve cores or require more than 48 GB of RAM per node. Maximum memory capacity reaches 128 GB across the available slots. Builders who need more storage bays than the two internal 2.5-inch drives should plan for external arrays or shared storage.

Installation in a c-Class Enclosure

The blade slides into a vacant bay and locks with the integrated latch; no tools are required for the server itself. Ensure the enclosure firmware and Onboard Administrator are current before insertion to avoid iLO handshake failures. Common issues include mismatched interconnect modules for the FlexFabric 20 GB 2-port 650FLB adapter and forgotten power-cap settings that throttle the CPUs. Rail kits are available separately if the rack requires them.
