Purpose-built compute density

The HPE DL380 Gen9 4LFF chassis arrives with two Xeon E5-2630 v4 processors running at 2.2GHz, each providing 10 cores and 25MB cache. 128GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed across the available slots. This configuration targets virtualization hosts, database nodes and batch-processing clusters that need strong multi-threaded throughput in a 2U rack footprint.

Integration and expansion

The 4LFF cage accepts up to four 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives served by the onboard P440 PCIe SAS controller. Two 500W Flex Slot power supplies deliver redundant power without occupying extra PCIe space. A dual-port 1GbE 332T adapter handles baseline connectivity while iLO Advanced enables remote firmware updates, power cycling and console access. No drives are included, so storage capacity and RAID level are chosen at order time.

Thermals and power profile

Redundant 500W supplies share load evenly, keeping each unit in its high-efficiency range during typical virtualized workloads. Gen9 thermal design uses variable-speed fans that ramp only when inlet temperatures rise, maintaining low acoustic output in standard data-centre aisles. The 128GB DDR4 population fills a subset of DIMM slots, leaving headroom for future memory expansion up to the platform maximum of 3TB.
