HPE DL380 Gen9 8SFF server overview

The HPE DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server with an eight-bay 2.5-inch chassis designed for virtualization, database and general compute workloads. It ships with one Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processor running at 2.1GHz and 192GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. A P440 SAS RAID controller and dual 500W Flex Slot power supplies are installed. No drives are included.

Check CPU sockets and memory slots before ordering

The system board supports up to two processors; one socket is populated and the second is free for expansion. Memory capacity reaches 3TB when both CPU sockets are filled, so verify how many DIMM slots remain open in the current 192GB configuration. The P440 controller uses SAS connectivity; confirm your backplane and cabling match this interface. Integrated graphics and a quad-port Intel network adapter (two 10GbE and two 1GbE ports) are already present.

Build around the 8SFF chassis and P440 controller

Eight 2.5-inch drive bays provide internal storage density for SAS SSDs or HDDs; the P440 handles RAID levels supported by the controller firmware. Dual 500W power supplies deliver redundancy for the installed components and any added second processor or drives. HPE iLO Advanced remote management allows out-of-band monitoring and firmware updates without a local console. Rails are available separately for rack mounting.
