The HPE DL380 Gen9 8SFF is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation hosts and database clusters that need high core counts in a standard rack footprint. It ships with two Xeon E5-2650L v3 processors running at 1.8 GHz, each providing twelve cores for a total of twenty-four threads. The 512 GB DDR4 ECC registered memory fills a large portion of the 3 TB maximum capacity, giving headroom for dense VM workloads. No drives are installed, so storage can be tailored to the application.

8SFF chassis with P440 SAS controller

The eight 2.5-inch small-form-factor bays connect to an HPE Smart Array P440 SAS controller that supports SATA and SAS drives in RAID configurations. Two 500 W Flex Slot power supplies provide redundancy without occupying extra PCIe slots. Integrated Intel I350 and X540 adapters deliver two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports for network segmentation. HPE iLO Advanced remote management allows out-of-band control, firmware updates and health monitoring from any browser. Rails are available separately for rack mounting.

Dual 500 W supplies and efficient low-power CPUs

The 500 L-series processors have a lower thermal design power than standard variants, reducing heat output under typical virtualisation loads. Dual redundant power supplies share the load, keeping fan speeds moderate during normal operation. The 2U form factor allows front-to-rear airflow that matches standard data-centre cold-aisle layouts. Acoustic levels remain suitable for rack rooms without specialised sound dampening.
