This HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 rack server ships new in a 4LFF chassis that accepts up to four 3.5-inch drives. Two Intel Xeon E5-2637 v4 processors run at 3.5 GHz with four cores each and 15 MB cache. The system includes 384 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and an HPE Smart Array P440 SAS controller. Dual 500 W Flex Slot power supplies and an HPE 332T dual-port 1 Gb Ethernet adapter are fitted. Remote management is provided by HPE iLO Advanced. No drives are installed.

The 384 GB DDR4 capacity supports virtualization hosts, large databases and in-memory analytics that benefit from abundant RAM. The two four-core CPUs deliver 3.5 GHz clock speed but only eight threads total, so buyers who need more parallel threads should look elsewhere. The 4LFF bay limit restricts internal storage to four 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives, so environments requiring many drive bays need a different chassis. Integrated graphics and a single 1 Gb NIC may limit GPU-accelerated or high-throughput networking tasks.
