The Lenovo 42T2541 is a 9.5 mm UltraBay Slim module that reads and writes CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW media. It fits ThinkPad models that accept the second-generation UltraBay Slim form factor and connects through the bay's native Serial ATA interface.

Slot-load mechanism and Serial ATA connection

The drive uses a slot-loading tray-less design so there is no eject lever to catch on bags or docks. Its Serial ATA link draws power and data directly from the UltraBay connector, so no extra cables or external adapters are required for installation.

Limited to DVD media and legacy UltraBay bays

The unit cannot read or write Blu-ray discs and will not operate in newer ThinkPads that have removed the UltraBay Slim slot or replaced it with a different storage interface. Systems without a compatible 9.5 mm UltraBay Slim bay cannot accept this module.
