Raspberry Pi HiFi DAC HAT

This expansion board adds studio-grade audio to Raspberry Pi 5, 4, 3B+, Zero and Zero W through the 40-pin GPIO header. It uses the TI PCM5122 DAC to deliver 384kHz/32bit resolution with 112dB SNR and -78dB THD+N. No soldering or external wiring is required for installation.

Dual oscillators and DOP support

Two ultra-low jitter oscillators at 45.158MHz and 49.152MHz enable master-clock operation that removes host jitter. The board handles DSD over PCM across the full 8kHz to 384kHz range. Onboard EEPROM provides plug-and-play configuration with Volumio, Moode, RuneAudio, LibreELEC and Raspberry Pi OS.

RCA and headphone outputs with independent grounding

Gold-plated RCA line outputs supply 2.1V rms while the dedicated TPA6133 headphone amplifier delivers 138mW into 32 ohms through the 3.5mm jack. Separate ground paths eliminate crosstalk between studio monitors and high-impedance headphones. Builders needing more than two analogue channels or integrated microphone input should look elsewhere.

Questions sur cet article

Will the PCM5122 chip or the dual oscillators at 45.158MHz and 49.152MHz need replacement later?

The PCM5122 DAC and dual oscillators are surface-mounted components with no user-serviceable parts, so no scheduled replacement is required.

What limits continuous playback at 384kHz/32bit through the RCA or 3.5mm outputs?

The 40-pin GPIO bandwidth and Raspberry Pi CPU throughput set the practical ceiling before the 112dB SNR or -78dB THD+N specs are reached.

How much heat or noise does the board add when driving 138mW into 32-ohm headphones all day?

The onboard ultra-low-noise regulation and TPA6133 amp run cool with no fan, adding negligible heat and zero audible noise during extended sessions.
